The Importance of State Inspections
As our roadways fill with more and more vehicles, the importance of safety and cleanliness is increasing every day. Whether we hope to contribute in keeping emissions down or maintaining the quality of safety for our personal vehicle, we all are able to contribute in keeping our streets in the best condition possible. That is why required state inspections on vehicles in Pennsylvania are so important -- they help us make sure we are doing our part to help the local air and roadways. The next time you receive notification that you are due for a state inspection don't hesitate to get in touch with a local auto repair shop.
What Happens During a State Inspection
State inspections are often also called "State Safety Inspections" as they inspect and evaluate the safety of a variety of different components. The specific components that need to be inspected will vary depending on the type of vehicle you drive and the county you live in. However, some examples of what will be inspected are the mirrors, wipers, steering, fuel systems, braking systems, the odometer and more. If you're unsure what exactly needs to be inspected on your vehicle for a state inspection feel free to get in touch with your local Department of Transportation for clarification.
When the Inspection Due?
When you receive notification that you are responsible for getting a state inspection done on your vehicle, you have until the last day of the month in whcih your inspection is due. This means if your inspection is due in March then you have until the last day within March to receive your state inspection. However, be sure to make an appointment as soon as possible to ensure nothing gets in the way of you getting an inspection and getting back on the road. In addition, you are also welcome to be even more on top of things and get your inspection done up to three months before your final deadline.
Streets and roadways are not just for vehicles. We share the roads with bicyclists, people walking their dogs, kids riding their bikes, and all pieces of our community coming out in the world. When the time comes that you need a state inspection be sure to get in touch with a local auto repair shop as soon as possible to ensure you are doing you're part in keeping the roads safe.
